Rocky Mountain Fibre Folk Canmore Retreat
Published Feb 18 2025 in
We were honoured to be invited to be a vendor at the mini marketplace for the Rocky Mountain Fibre Folk Canmore Retreat hosted by the Grocery Girls (Jodi & Tracie) and Knit Social. It was our second year attending the market and we were so excited to meet new and old retreat guests and market vendors representing the fibre community. People from allover Canada, USA, Spain and Finland were in attendance. We connected with so many of these creative and interesting people. We really appreciated all that came to purchase jewelry from us.
I was so inspired after that day that I sought out knitting patterns and yarns of sweaters that we loved seeing that day. I was an avid knitter before I started on my jewelry venture. Here's a picture of a colourwork poncho that I made for Erin when she was about 8 years old. She wore it everyday. It's a keepsake. Back to the present, I ended up taking day trip to Ancient Arts Yarn in Calgary and purchased yarn from the owner, Caroline Sommerfeld, to make a beautiful sweater designed by Caidree on Ravelry. (Harlow V Neck). I chose a fingering weight in Emerald (Lascau Fine 100) and a lace mohair in cypress tree (Delicacy Lace). It was amazing to see how two different yarn colours and textures can meld into a beautiful vibrant colour. Two weeks of knitting and watching at least 10 episodes of the Grocery Girls Podcast on Youtube and I am 3/4 finished the sweater! We will update the pictures to show you the sweater when it is done!
We are so grateful for Jodi & Tracie of The Grocery Girls and Fiona & Amanda of Knit Social for inviting us for another amazing day with the knitting community!
